Patrick Borja
Executive Vice President – Finance & Accounting
Patrick Borja serves as Executive Vice President – Finance & Accounting of Comunidad Partners. He is responsible for financial management, taxation and treasury management activities for both the company and its portfolio of assets. He is responsible for implementing financial and accounting strategy while optimizing financial performance and risk management.
“At Comunidad, we have invested heavily in our investment and accounting platforms, which allows us to make swift decisions based on real-time data that is accurate and provides actionable insights. This translates to timely and transparent information for our stakeholders,” he says. “On the mission side, we are genuinely investing in the health, social and economic welfare of our residents and can prove that not only is this the right moral thing to do but that it also provides a quantitative benefit to any underwriting and operational model.”
Patrick has more than 20 years of real estate experience in the public and private sectors and has worked in both institutional and private equity middle-market investment firms. He invested a year of his career volunteering as an English teacher in Quito, Ecuador, in underserved communities.
“While I have seen other real estate investment companies host community events and dinners, never have I seen an organization include the betterment of its residents as part of the underwriting process. By coupling my accounting and finance knowledge with Comunidad’s mission, my goal is to establish this platform as the national model for investing in affordable housing.”
Prior to Comunidad, he has led accounting, finance and equity teams for real estate development companies, private equity funds, property management companies and family offices. Patrick has managed financial accounting and reporting for DRA Advisors, GTIS Partners, StoryBuilt and a New York family office.
He started his career at Mazars in public accounting and has since worked extensively in accounting implementations, fund management, debt servicing, compliance, acquisitions, asset management, dispositions and refinancing. He graduated from the State University of New York at Binghamton and previously served as a certified public accountant.
