Antonio Marquez

Principal and Managing Partner

Antonio Marquez serves as Principal and Managing Partner of Comunidad Partners. He is chairman of the firm’s Investment Committee. He is responsible for strategic planning, culture building and capital raising.

Antonio founded Comunidad Partners in honor of his family’s immigrant heritage to provide improved opportunities and a better life for people who live in communities that the company serves. “My father came from abject poverty in Mexico, and with no more than a fifth-grade education, started a company with his family that served his community and flourished into a respected national brand,” he says.

“Opportunities were limited growing up for the family, yet through entrepreneurial spirit and hard work, we were able to build a business and create something special. We were able to create our own version of the American dream, and my ‘why’ is to support others from underserved communities to realize theirs.”

Fostering the company’s deep commitment to social impact, diversity and equity, Antonio leads Comunidad Partners’ value-add approach that creates inclusionary housing with a sense of place and cultural vibrancy that elevates its low- to moderate-income workforce residents. He spearheaded the company’s unique ESG model, which enhances economic returns while driving sustainable social and environmental value for all stakeholders.

He has been involved in multifamily real estate transactions working or partnering with a number of firms, namely Nuveen, Carlyle, GE Capital, Prudential, Hines and Singerman.

He is founder and co-chairman of Veritas Impact Partners, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a mission of improving social impact and creating positive life outcomes for residents living in affordable and workforce housing communities. He is a founding board member of Real Estate Association for Latinx professionals (REAL), a nonprofit organization focused on the professional advancement and equity of Latinx commercial real estate professionals.
